OTHER TREATMENTS FOR STAINLESS STEEL
Elettrogalvanica Modenese offers a wide range of surface treatments, which make the exterior of stainless-steel components and mechanical parts contamination-free and metallurgically clean. Read on to discover passivation, pickling and electropolishing!
For about 30 years, we have been serving individuals and companies for the finishing of metal parts, throughout the area of Modena, Bologna and Reggio Emilia. Contact us to get quotes.
Stainless steel pickling
Pickling is an operation carried out with the purpose of removing the surface oxides that are present on the parts, by means of a chemical and mechanical action. Among the most typical examples of residues are rust on iron and oxides from welding. In addition, pickling makes it easy to remove the layer of steel that has lost chromium during treatment.
It is usually carried out by immersion in inorganic acids (also known as mineral acids) and water. Our company has tanks made of resistant anti-acid material.
Stainless-steel passivation
This is a very important treatment as it allows a steel object to be returned to its original characteristics in terms of stainlessness. This not only prolongs the life of the objects but also removes traces of pollutants from previous work.
This is why stainless passivation is often called “decontamination”: A service to remove all contaminants that erode the passive film protecting stainless steel.
Stainless-steel electropolishing
Stainless-steel electropolishing is applied to clean metal surfaces, with the aim of reducing micro-roughness and producing other positive effects. Operation takes place on the basis of electrolysis, using a current flow together with an acid solution.
The final effect is that of great surface smoothing, through the dissolution of the metal from the anode electrode. Metal material that caused surface roughness is removed.
