DEHYDROGENATION (ALSO KNOWN AS BAKING PROCEDURE) AND SEALING
After electrogalvanizing, the iron components must undergo some final treatments, including dehydrogenation. In fact, during galvanizing and the preliminary phases (pickling and degreasing), it is common for hydrogen to develop on the surface of metals. This element tends to make the components more fragile and therefore needs to be removed. Dehydrogenation takes place in a dehydrogenation furnace at about 200 degrees.
The protection of metals on galvanizing proceeds with other steps. Sealing treatment consists of covering the zinc coating with a film of sealing solution that protects the parts from the most aggressive forms of corrosion. An additional advantage of sealing is that it distributes the insulating layer more evenly and eliminates accumulations in hollow parts.
